April 7th

Hello all,

I hope you are all still listening. Things have been moving along; dad's place in Oak Hill still is not marked, but we will update you when it is. I hope everyone had a happy easter/passover. I think all in all everything has been quite surreal to this point.

I have been notified of a pancreatic cancer run; as of now we have no official Team Larzy (although one is in the works i hear...). I will post more information soon.

Please send us any pictures you took at the memorials!

There has been a vacuum in our lives lately, and we have been filling it with warm memories of a man who loved and lived in such a way that inspires us all.

More to come,

Tim

April 9, 2010

Hello Everyone,

It is already April. The days have seemed to fly by quickly. We hope you all had a nice Easter. All of us are getting back to the swing of things, however difficult it may be. Mom just went back to work. I am back to the grind and Tim and Alicia arrived safely back in Portland and are back to work as well. There is still a lot to do but we are taking things a day at a time. I guess I can sum it all up by saying we have good days and bad days. We really miss dad.

Easter was difficult for me. I remember last Easter, driving down to San Jose to spend the holiday with the family, but dad wasn't feeling well. We spent Easter in the hospital trying to figure out what was wrong.

I'll have to leave you with a funny story of dad. A few months ago my dad was working on fixing up the house. He bought a few gallons of paint to paint the back fence. There is a creek behind our house and he flung himself over the fence to paint the back side facing the creek. When he was done, he sent a picture to my brother and I. The entire back fence was painted with a large "WWJD". Of course, we called him back wondering what happened to the fence. He said that if a criminal is back there trying to decide which house to break into, he probably won't pick the one that asks: What would Jesus do? Its still there today. He makes me laugh.

Thanks for checking in.
Love,
Heather

March 26th and 27th

First off, thank you to all of you for your participation in both of
the ceremonies yesterday. Everything went so well and it was nice to see so many people sharing their love for my Dad! Very special thanks to Lunardi's for the food, Raleys for drinks and flowers, to the Hayward Starbucks for coffee, and to everyone for everything. It was truly a special day!

Please email us photos! Loveforlarzy@gmail.com

Part of my father's ashes are resting at Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose. He is in the Hillside mausoleum, although it will take some time for the plaque to be made, so as of now it is not marked. More on that as it is available.

Today we spread the rest of my father's ashes in the bay, and what a glorious beautiful day it was for such a thing. We saw dolphins! The weather was perfect, our captain was gracious. Here this their website, we highly recommend them, they were professional and a easy to work with.

Due to coast guard regulations, we were not allowed too close to Alcatraz, but we reached a point right on the path that dad swam, said a couple words, and spread his ashes into the bay. I cannot express how therapeutic it was. It was when we were doing thing that I thought, "We did a good job." We did. The events of this month have been traumatic, we will never be the same, but after yesterday and today we cannot look back without thinking that we honored Dad in a way that he would have been proud of. We didn't do it alone either, there are so many thanks to all of you for your love and support.

In addition to Oak Hill, if you ever find yourself on Alcatraz...
There is a flat area on the island on the side facing San Francisco that has some concrete rubble. At the edge of this there is a large cypress tree, by the cypress tree there are some stairs that go down to a sitting area. Sit on the bench the farthest to your right from the bottom of the stairs; when you look at the water just off Alcatraz looking toward san Francisco you will be looking where we were today.

We will continue to run the blog, as it is a great way to keep in touch with all of you. Also, there have been talks of a Team Larzy being formed for a cancer run; we will keep you posted.

Love
TJ, Heather, and Kathy

March 22nd

I hope everyone is doing well. We are all hanging in there, there are up and downs but that's the way these things go. We are finalizing everything for this weekend and we are looking forward to seeing all of you at the memorial.

Once again if you are at all interested in speaking please shoot me an email here at LoveForLarzy@gmail.com. At the end of the "service" there will be time for anyone to speak, so no pressure about giving me heads up - however doing so will expedite the organizing and such. If you have a story about Dad email it to me here. We would like to read them and, if you like, I can read it for you at the service.

Finally, I wanted to let everyone know that most of Dad's ashes will be at a gravesite, but what you may not know is that we are spreading the rest. He had mentioned to my sister that he wouldn't mind having his ashes spread in the San Francisco bay. So, after making some phone calls we have chartered a boat and are doing so. The neat thing about it is that the boat we have chartered is the very same boat used as a saftey boat for the Swim or Die aquathon (a race my father completed and the race my father was most proud of completing). The boat will be taking us on the route he swam. We are very excited about this because we know that dad would have really appreciated it.

With love,
Tim
