Hello Everyone. Thank you for checking out the blog. I hope it really helps everyone stay connected during these difficult days. We hate to keep people out of the loop but it is really hard to call everyone with updates. We (Timothy and Heather) will try our best to constantly post updates on dad's condition and important information. We would also love for you all to comment on our posts and send well wishes which we will read to dad.
This last week has been truly difficult. It began 2 weeks ago when he was not feeling well and his pain was increasing due to his pancreatic cancer. Last Sunday he was admitted to the ER with a lot of pain. After a very long, scary day we made it through. My brother Timothy and his wife Alicia flew in town right away to be with Dad and they have been here since. After two days on a floor down stairs he was moved to the Oncology unit on the third floor. It has been very comforting to have nurses who really understand how to take care of him. The week has been spent with family staying here around the clock to keep him company and to keep informed regarding his plan for care. We have good days and bad days but the goal is to manage dad's pain so he can be comfortable. I will post again when I can.
Hugs,
Heather
Hi Tim, This is John Chu.
ReplyDeleteI don't know you very well, but I get to know your enormous strength through Heather. Heather inspires me a great deal through her tremendous sense of perspective, love, care, and dignity. And she often speaks of you with such admiration and sparkles in her eyes. Children are the reflections of their parents. You have such wonderful children, Mr. Navarrette. I know you must be one of the most loving and respectful Dad!
You also inspire me with your unrelenting sense of purpose. The few times I interacted with you, you were cooking BBQ, making copies of DVDs and mailing them out the SAME day, painting or making improvements to your house, working in the garage, ... Life might be too short for many of us but, Mr. Navarrette, I believe you are living your life to the very fullest!
I wish you the very best in the days to come. I appreciate very much for the little times that we have spent together -- those little times that will continue to inspire me to be a better parent. For that, I am very grateful!
Love,
John
Dad (though technically not mine, that's how I know you),
ReplyDeleteI want to thank you for raising such a strong, intelligent, wonderful daughter in Heather. She means the world to me and I know you mean the world to her. She always has great stories or tidbits of information she has learned from you... like knowing the mileage on your car can get you to the moon! I can only guess at how much pride you must hold in your heart to have a daughter like Heather.
Thank you!
Love,
Jacquie
Hi Tim and lovely family: just wanted to let you know Tonine and I have all of you in our prayers. We know the strength of the family and the love you have for each other will pull you through at difficult times as this. We and the MHT crowd send our heartfelt care and warmth for such a great guy as Tim. And a pretty good photographer too. I have the CDs to prove it. Which have given me the opportunity to see the love [and laughter] that flows within your family. You're such a gift to each other and prove the world is a wonderful place with people like you. Thanks for the computer lessons I've learned sending this note and acquiring a URL profile. Fondly, Tonine and Rich Nielsen, former MHT teachers and coach
